Cat People
RKO - 1942
Very Fine

American Insert 14" x 36"

This was the picture that launched an entire sub-catagory in the horror genre. Under the tenure of Val Lewton, RKO's horror department made a series of horror films based on suspense rather than blatant horror imagery. "Cat People" was the first film in the series and made Lewton's name an icon in the cinema. The posters for this title are among the most sought after in the horror field and the insert is particularly scarce. It presents very nicely as there has been only minor restoration to the fold lines during the professional paper-backing process and a small tear in the right side of the border. There has also been some minor touch-up work done to Simon's forearm on the right. Overall, this poster presents as Very Fine/Near Mint, albeit with a strict technical grade of Very Fine-/Very Fine.
