American Insert 14" x 36"

John Ford, one of the primary forces for developing the mystique of the Western in cinema, began his famous "cavalry trilogy" with this picture. John Wayne and Henry Fonda were never better as two soldiers who see their military roles completely different from each other. Ford shot the film in Monument Valley (John Ford Country) and the picture was a thinly veiled version of Custer's last stand at Little Big Horn. The film also had many faces from the typical John Ford acting company including Victor McLaglen, Pedro Armendariz and Ward Bond. This is truly one of the classic Westerns and the posters for the title seldom become available. This insert has extra creases throughout the image but appears to only have one real fold line in the middle. There are some light smudges in the image and borders. This poster would easily clean up nicely if restored. Fine-.
