1958 Reissue for the 1940 film. Tyrone Power reprises the role first brought to the screen by Douglas Fairbanks 20 years earlier, and many critics thought that Power bested Fairbanks -- perhaps not in lithe athleticism but with an agile tongue, Power was as quick with a one liner as he was with his sword. Basil Rathbone relishes his role as the evil assistant to the governor, sort of a moral inverse of Dr. Watson, the right-hand that helps his superior (the governor, J. Edward Bromberg) to enact villainous schemes rather than solve them. This half sheet has undergone professional restoration to repair small imperfections within the image and border areas, to smooth out crease marks, to mend fold line separations. The poster highlights Power's dashing, mask on and off, and would display great. Colors are very strong.
