Of all of the films that John Ford directed, his personal favorite was "The Quiet Man." Ford had to wait a number of years before he could make the picture on location in his native Ireland. It starred a virtual who's who of Ford players, including John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara, Victor McLaglen, and Ward Bond, and remains one of the director's masterpieces. Written by Frank Nugent and beautifully scored by Victor Young, the film won Oscars for Archie Stout's Technicolor photography, and for Ford's direction. The famous image of Wayne and O'Hara is featured on this lovely poster.
