American One Sheet 27" x 41"

This is the Ultra-Rare 'Road-Show' style A one sheet that features the wonderful border art by famed artist Armando Seguso. The Academy-Award-Winning film was first released in a 'Road-Show' format in 1939, meaning that it played in just a select few theatres across the country, thus accounting for the limited number of posters available to collectors from this title. An interesting aside, fourteen hundred actresses were interviewed for the part of Scarlet O'Hara and over 400 were screen-tested. Bette Davis turned down the role because she thought that Errol Flynn, whom she detested, was to be her co-star. Vivian Leigh, of course, rightfully got the part in the end and the legend continued. This poster has one of the most elegant designs and is the scarcest of all the one sheets made for this campaign. It would make an incredible conversation piece above a fire place or even in a dining room. The condition of the poster is very nice, with only minor fold-line separation that was neatly repaired during the linen-backing process and some airbrush work to the white borders. The colors are vibrant, giving this delightful poster tremendous eye appeal.
