Gene Autry Comics Vol. 1 #1
Fawcett Publications
Jan 1942
CGC NM+ 9.6 Off-White to White
Mile High Pedigree

Serial #0074750001

Highest Certified by CGC! Gene Autry was one of the most famous Cowboy stars of the 1930's and 1940's and later in his life was the owner of the then California Angels baseball club. He was affectionately known as the "singing cowboy" during his film career. This rare first issue is from the very first series that was published by Fawcett Publications, which are the rarer Gene Autry comics, much rarer than those from the Dell run. The book itself is an incredible example of what a top-grade comic from the fabled Mile High pedigree collection should look like. It features deeply saturated color and mirror-like gloss and is artistically a truly beautiful Golden-Age comic book. The book also features the distinctive distributor pencil mark neatly placed near the top of the spine, signifying its origin from the Mile High collection. This rare comic is seldom seen in any condition and is nearly impossible to find this nice! In fact, this copy is far and away the Finest Known and as such is obviously the Highest Certified by CGC! 2008 Overstreet Guide value for NM- 9.2 is $12,000. Certified NM+ 9.6 comics from Pedigreed collections such as this generally sell for multiples of the 9.2 Guide value.
