Charlie Chaplin directed, starred and produced this comedy gem that has the 'Little Tramp' running from the law and 'accidentally' joining the circus as a clown. The whole circus soon revolves around their new star and his many adventures and narrow escapes, while performing under the Big Top. Charlie's love interest in this production is a pretty tightrope walker, played by Merna Kennedy. "The Circus" won Chaplin a special Oscar in 1928 for "versatility and genius in writing, acting, directing and producing". There is a small corner chip, a small border tear and light toning. This is a wonderful portrait card which features a terrific close-up of Chaplin and the lovely Ms. Kennedy.
